Flushed Feelings: Navigating Anxiety and the Gut Connection

Ok, so this is something a lot of people don't talk about!

Have you ever had to go somewhere you knew you needed to go, but you felt uneasy about it? Next thing you know, you are running back and forth to the toilet?

That is another symptom of anxiety!

I don't fully understand why no one talks about this to be honest.

I could never understand that when I felt anxious, I always needed to run to the toilet and not just once!

Your body knows there is something wrong, it knows that you don't feel quite right and unfortunately the anxiety poos come to light.

I could never understand why the days that I had plans, or even the days running up to a day that I had plans, I was always running to the toilet. Sometimes it would actually make me cancel plans.

I need you to know, this is normal!! There is nothing wrong with you at all.

Some mornings before I leave for work and I know it is going to be a hectic day, or I am overthinking about what my day will entail, I am back on the loo.

Now, I have been through my therapy (more on that to come) but I still have this little symptom. I have found that if I do keep up with my journaling, it eases, but it seems to be something that will always be there for me, are you the same? Honestly, let me know! I really don't think there is a cure for it but I have learned to deal with it and know why my body is acting the way it is.

I go back to my rationalisation when it happens. Again, it is always linked to things that are out of my control!

Most of the times, I am fine, I go out and I have a great time. I love spending time with my family and friends. Doesn't mean, I won't be running to the toilet beforehand!

As you all know, I am not a trained professional, just someone, like you, who has gone through a really tough time, is now doing their best to keep going and hopefully help others understand, they are not alone.

Basically the point of my story today is, anxiety poos are normal but you have to rationalise as to why you running.

Are you heading out with friends? Have plans with family? Heading to an important meeting? Please do not go into overdrive and worry about things that are out of your control! I promise, rationalising will help you!

Check out my worry journal, it has definitely helped me over the past year and I really hope it can help you. I have also added a few websites if you feel you need professional help in my items list.
